A Poem for Today
I wrote this poem towards the end of 2022. It was a difficult time personally after the loss of two close friends and I think you can hear that in the words.

Today’s Poem
This year has to be the turning point.
With the fire storm’s near approach
So much of our paradise is lost,
We cannot let this Wild Abyss go on.
The womb of Nature must not become her Grave.
What is this war against Nature that
Drives to cleanse, burn, make sterile?
We are inseparable from her, mutually dependent.
If she is exploited and abused
then all our futures will be still-born.
There is more than enough for all
When it is fairly shared between us.
We can all have good food, warm homes,
Health care, education, creature comfort
To live happy, creative meaningful lives.
So let us stand together against Corporate greed
And those in power who protect its excessive profits.
They are complicit in pain, destruction and death.
We cannot let this Wild Abyss go on.
The womb of Nature must not become her Grave.
