Collective Action or Collective Suicide
Climate justice is about creating a better future for all of us. It’s about giving everyone the ability to live a life of dignity, joy and safety. This better world is possible, but only if we all fight for it.

Let's Build People Power.
On July 16 UN Secretary General said: “We have a choice. Collective action or collective suicide. It is in our hands” Yes, throughout the world ordinary citizens have shown that they can organise and come up with solutions to the Climate Crisis and the multiple other crises, all inter-related, that Governments have been unable or unwilling to address.
Here in the UK we are facing a horrendous cost of living crisis(actually cost of exploitationn crisis) and the effects of a historically devastating heatwave and drought (reckoned to be the worst in 500 years). The news is full of anti-climate pledges made by our candidate PMs, and at the same time fossil fuel companies like BP and Shell are making billions in profits whilst ordinary people are skipping meals or having to rely on food banks. This is obscene. Our current economic system is broken as it serves the interests of a small ultra-rich elite who have bought into politics, the banking system and the media thereby corrupting our institutions. And at the same time the pollution and waste from the destructive activities of their multinational corporations is killing the planet and any hope of a liveable future for our young people.
If the government won’t intervene to prevent people dying due to high bills and the political opposition won’t represent our interests and fight for a liveable future for all of us, then we have to start building people power that truly demands it. This requires all of us to take part. I encourage you to get involved in climate organisations like Extinction Rebellion that believes in non-violent direct action, the mechanism that brought about most of our current freedoms including Womens’ Sufferage (right to vote) and Workers’ Rights, even Weekends. People in these organisations are not extremists but diverse and supportive, and working with them is very rewarding. XR is planning a huge resurgent campaign this autumn, called the Festival of Resistance, so now is the time to get involved. Recently I have also joined Enough is Enough, and support Liberty, New Economics Foundation, Bromsgrove Climate Action (a member of Friends of the Earth) and GreenPeace amongst others.
If you live in the town or within 10 miles of Bromsgrove, then I am happy to cycle over to see you or meet you for a discussion at a local cafe or pub. Let me know by leaving a message via the Contacts page.
